World Environment Day 2025

The World Environment Day was celebrated at Nandankanan on 5th June 2025. This year theme was “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally”. The event started with Anti-Plastic Drive both at Nandankanan Zoological Park and State Botanical Garden with more than 130 participants including Zoo officials, students, Zoo interns and Zoo volunteers.

This was followed by Plantation drive of native trees like Putranjiva, Neem, Peepal, Bael, Jamun, Baula, Karanj, Arjuna, Khirni etc at State Botanical Garden. More than 50 trees were planted during the event.

Interactive session like “Seed Identification workshop”, “On-the-spot-painting” competition and Quiz based on this year’s theme was conducted to raise awareness.
