Nandankanan Zoo Volunteer Programme

Objective:

The Nandankanan Zoo Volunteer Programme aims to support zoo management in daily operations through voluntary services. Volunteers enhance their experience while providing valuable assistance, particularly in areas where trained personnel may be limited.

Volunteer Work Areas:

- Visitor Management: Assist during peak times, handle grievances, and support children’s activities.
- Zoo Educattion: Participate in citizen science, lead educational tours, and contribute to curriculum development.
- Documentation: Engage in photography, digitalization of records, and content creation for the zoo’s website.
- Zoo Keeping: Support environmental enrichment, healthcare management, and waste management efforts.
- Volunteer Management Team: Oversee volunteer coordination and provide substitute support.

Recruitment:

Volunteers must be aged 18-65, enthusiastic, and capable of working with diverse audiences. Background checks are mandatory. Orientation training occurs biannually, with ongoing workshops available.

Benefits:

Volunteers receive travel reimbursements, meals on service days, uniforms, and training. They earn 50 reward points for each day of service, redeemable for zoo services.

Waiver and Release:

Volunteers must sign a waiver acknowledging the risks associated with their activities, releasing the zoo from liability.

Selection Criteria:

Recruitment is at the discretion of zoo management to ensure safety and suitability for the role.
