Diospyros sylvatica Roxb.

Vernacular Name: Kalicha, Kalchua (O).

Small or medium-sised tree; bark dark grey. Leaves narrow-elliptic, elliptic- oblong or ovate-oblong, acute to acuminate. Male flowers very small 3-4- merous, in small, dense, peduncled cymes, axillary and from the scars of caducous scales. Female flowers white, extra-axillary. Fruit globose, glabrous, yellow-orange when ripe; crowned by enlarged reflexed calyx.
 
Fairly abundant in damp forests.
