Caesalpinia pulcherrima (Linn.) Sw.
Vernacular Name: Godibana (O), Krishna chura (Beng.); Gulutora (H); Peacock flower, Barbados pride (E).
Much branched shrub or small tree. Leaf- rachis smooth; leaflets 8-10 pairs, broadly oblong, apex rounded or emarginate and often apiculate, glabrous. Flowers yellow or red, in elongate, axillary and terminal racemes. Pods oblong flat, apex rounded, upper suture ending in a sharp beak. Seeds oblong or rectangular.
Introduced as a hedge plant or as a garden ornamental.
