Vernacular Name: Pijuli, Peda (O), Guava (E).

Small tree; bark smooth, exfoliating in small flakes. Leaves opposite, oblong or elliptic oblong, entire, glabrous above, pubescent beneath, Flowers white, on 1- 3-flowered, axillary peduncles. Berry globose or pyriform, varying in sise and shape, many-seeded; seeds embedded in pleasantly flavoured sweet pulp.
 
Grown in gardens; also run wild as an escape.
