The 62nd Foundation Day of Nandankanan is being celebrated today, the 29th December, 2021. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force Sri Sisir Kumar Ratho has graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden Sri Shashi Paul was the Guest of Honour.Dr Manoj V. Nair, Director, Nandankanan Biological Park welcomed the guests and other invited dignitaries across the dais. He presented the progress and management of the park in the year gone by. The employees of the park rendering commendable service were encouraged with certificates and cash prize. The Annual Report for the year 2020-21 and calendar for the year 2022 were released on the occasion. An Indian pangolin tagged with VHF-radio transmitter was released into the Nandankanan sanctuary on the occasion, to study the behaviour, habitat use and ranging in the wild of this little-known species. In addition, 3 male tiger cubs“Banshi”, “Rakesh” and “Rocky” born on 28.03.2021 from Bijaya and Saif and another 3 cubs (2 male and 1 female)“Abhaya”, “Bibek” and “Sohini” born on 14.04.2021 from Megha and Nandanwere given names by the esteemed guests.The meeting was attended by distinguished dignitaries associated with the organization and other guests: representatives of print and electronic media, visitors, local people and zoo staff. Dr Sanjeet Kumar, Deputy Director, Nandankanan Zoological Park tendered vote of thanks to all who attended the function.
