The 61 st Foundation Day of Nandankanan was celebrated on 29th December,2020. Sri Bikram Keshari Arukha, Hon’ble Minister of Forest & Environment and Parliamentary Affairs, Odisha, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Sri Suresh Kumar Routray, Hon’ble, MLA, Jatani, Khordha, Sri Sushanta Kumar Rout, Hon’ble, MLA, Bhubaneswar (North), Khordha, Dr Mona Sharma, (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Forest & Environment Dept, Odisha and Dr Hari Shankar Upadhyay, (IFS), PCCF (WL) & CWLW, Odisha, was the guest of Honour of the ceremony. Annual Report for the year 2019-20 and IEC materials were released on the occasion. The best workers of Nandankanan were rewarded by the Guests. The meeting was attended by VIPs, dignitaries, visitors, local inhabitations, serving and retired forest officers and zoo staff and media persons. On the eve of 61st foundation day, the newly constructed safari bus stand and visitor exit path was inaugurated. In addition to that naming of two male tiger cubs are given which were born from Sneha & Saif on 09th January, 2020. The names “Laba” and “Kusha” has chosen as the name of cubs. Finally, organisation like JSW and SBI adopted different animals under the Adopt-an-Animal scheme. JSW adopted 27 numbers of tigers where as SBI adopted 08 white tigers and 20 nos of Sambar.
